GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION

ANTISTATIC PRODUCTS

If problem occurs with dust on the work piece, an antistatic product can be used. We have CroLine, NaxoStat R, and NaxoWood R as well as E 238 A. Those products are used for both wood sanding and lacquer sanding. The environment in the working premises will also be better and less dusty.br />

BACKINGS

As backing material the most used is paper, flexible and stiff cotton cloth or polyester depending on application. In general, a coarse grit needs a tougher backing while a smother backing is used for high finish. The backing is also different depending on dry or wet grinding. br />

ABRASIVES

Aluminum oxide is the most common abrasive. It can be used for soft and clogging type of wood, especially in combination with an open coat. For hard wood a close coat is recommended. For painted, stained and varnished surfaces, Silicon Carbide can be used. Aluminum oxide can also be used for various steel and metal grinding applications and is available on both flexible and stiff cotton backings.

Silicon Carbide is used when the best finish on the surface is demanded as well as for stained and varnished work pieces. Silicon Carbide is also used for stain less steel, brass, titanium, plastics, glass fiber and ceramics.

Zirkonium and Ceramic grains are basically used for the toughest applications; both are available on strong backings of either polyester or extra strong cotton. Those two abrasives are the best performing abrasives for tough deburring and other demanding applications within the steel and metal industries. The main difference is that a ceramic grain does not need the same high pressure as the zirconia does. Keep in mind that there is no reason to use a tougher abrasive than the application needs.
